Common marketplace scams
Learn the common fraud patterns based on urgency, fake payments and credential theft.
1. Fake payment page
A fraudster sends a page resembling a bank or courier. The goal is to steal card or login credentials.
2. Deposit for an exceptional bargain
A very low price and supposed high demand are used to force an immediate payment without inspection.
3. Fake courier
The other party claims a courier handles everything but requires a link, code or additional payment.
4. Moving the conversation
The fraudster quickly moves to an external messenger where reporting is harder and impersonation is easier.
